7 December 2008 - SpeeD'ArTE (the Foundry) |
![]() |
SpeeD'ArTE - a multidimensional event mixing St Nicholas celebration, artist networking and speed dating in one game: meet the artist! The game, proving a successful formula to meet a lot of people in a short time, left a smile on everyone's face, not only because of the many original presents and the wild dancing at the end, but foremost because the networking game created an informal atmosphere in which everyone knew everyone at the end. |
![]() |
Cargo Arch1 and Polish deConstruction invite you to the exhibition, as well as the private view launch the exhibition ‘Shadows of the Space’. The presentation of Justyna Chudzinska’s landscapes, as well as the photographs and video installation of Karolina Raczynski, will continue a dialogue about the spatial consciousness of the artists. Precisely this capacity will be the focus of the exhibited works, in which intriguing techniques and challenging subject matters are combined, creating a catalogue of half-real half-familiar places. The private view will be an occasion to see the works on show as well as to share your ideas with the artists. PHOTO GALLERY |

27 October 2008 - Artist Talk 6 (Cargo): The Shadows of the Space, by Justyna Chudzinska and Karolina Raczynski |
![]() |
The discussion between the artists Justyna Chudzinska and Karolina Raczynski was led by Natalia Gladysz, about the inspiring properties of landscape and the ways of adding new dimensions to the illusionistic space of painting and photography. The talk involved issues like the artist’s sense of occupied space and his/her ability to manipulate the image in such a way as to make it inviting for a journey about its curious lands, contrasting visions of two domains, the way painting and photography promise new exciting views on the long-established genre. 19-27 September 2008 - First East-European Jazz Festival |
![]() |
The First East-European Jazz Festival took place over two weekends: 19-20 and 26-27 September. The event was organised and hosted by Jazz Café POSK in London in collaboration with Polish deConstruction. The main aim of the festival is to present to the London cultural scene some of the best jazz bands from Eastern Europe. The event was opened by the Polish Oles brothers, which was simultanously the premiere of their new album. Jazz music has been uniting people all over the world for more than a hundred years. The aim of the first East-European Jazz Festival in London was to bring people together once again. It was an exceptional opportunity for both the musicians and the audience – the musicians were able to demonstrate that jazz from East-Europe is no worse than their American equivalent, and the audience experienced leading, yet still unrecognised outside their own countries, jazz bands. The main sponsors of the festival are: POSK (Polish Social & Cultural Association Ltd), portal www.polot.co.uk, the Czech Centre, Salinger Solicitors & Notary Public and Pro Art & Co. |

13-15 September 2008 - The Homeless Gallery |
![]() |
Under the slogan "a raw, uncurated and lively photography exhibition", The Homeless Gallery came for the second time to London, organised by Polish deConstruction. This very successful event saw the basement of the Shoreditch Town Hall turned into a photography exhibition, an art lounge and THE place to meet. The Homeless Gallery is a spontaneously organised exhibition, inviting all photographers to participate, happening on an irregular basis in random locations worldwide. As there is no curator or theme, the artists are free to choose their way of presenting the works, from simply photographs on the wall to sophisticated installations. The space is deliberately chosen, because it’s not the typical white cube gallery and therefore providing artists with full freedom of expression and viewers with the excitement of browsing through the underground tunnels of the basement in search of the work of art. 22-25 August 2008 - Creative Camp |
![]() |
The long weekend saw PdC's first Creative Camp. The location was the idyllic hostel Jordans, half an hour by train from London. During the camp there were workshops in journalism, photography (photoshop), drawing, painting, as well as a debate and discussion, and many sport possibilities. In the evenings there was a camp fire with music and drinks, while the mornings invited all participants to gymnastics - communist style as well as funky style. We will soon upload photos from this very successful event! PHOTO GALLERY |

7 July 2008 - Cargo Gallery Launch |
![]() |
Polish deConstruction teamed up with Cargo to present an exhibition of paintings by Agnieszka Mlicka, on show until end of August. This event marked the launch of the new Gallery Space in Cargo. The exhibition opened on the 7th of July 2008 with a celebration: nibbles and free drinks courtesy of Estrella, as well as a short talk by Agnieszka.
Agnieszka Mlicka is an exceptional artist whose combination of drawing and painting is inspired by architecture, the city and urban planning. Agnieszka's work should sit well within the ex-industrial landscape that is Hackney and is an artist who Cargo feels privileged to present to its public. PHOTO GALLERY |

11 July 2008 - PdC Website Launch Party |
![]() |
Half alive, but happier than ever. "The PdC Website Launch Party", or the party celebrating the official opening of the www.polishdeconstruction.org website, is behind us. The party lasted until dawn and the turnout surpassed all our expectations. With steaming air, a fab presentation of young Polish artists and rhytmically moving bodies to music played by DJ Vujazz, the idea of Polish deConstruction has connected more than a hundred people in one place! We would like to thank all those individuals who have contributed to the success of this party; artists, who have presented their works, volunteers who helped in the organisation and all those who contributed with their presence and helped to heat up the dancefloor till glowing red (pink?). |
In February 2008, Polish deConstruction organised the first meeting with a theme: ‘road/street/surrounding’. Ewa Lis talked about her project quirky intallation/happening funded by the Arts Council. Damian Chrobak presented a collection of his street photographs inspired by classical street photographers. Modern poetry was read by Robert Rybicki. For this event at Cargo in Shoreditch, we also had fantastic music by Vujazz playing a mixture of creative, ethnic, folk, and jazz.

27 November 2007 - Artist Talk 2 (the Waterloo Centre): Aleksandra Ostszewska, Anna Wawrzkowicz and Klaudiusz Zembrzuski |
The second event was held at the Waterloo Centre, where three Polish contemporary photographers presented their work: Aleksandra Ostszewska, Anna Wawrzkowicz and Klaudiusz Zembrzuski. They all represented a very high standard of photography, each focusing on a different subject matter. Aleksandra talked about the dream element in her photography, Anna related to architectural spaces, abstract landscapes and found objects. Klaudiusz often uses multi-display installations and sound. The talks were followed by a lively discussion and a question-and-answer session about the works.

19 September 2007 - Artist Talk and Film Screening 1 (Ognisko Polskie): Marzena Zoladz, Agata Smuzniak and Piotr Rozanski |
The first Polish deConstruction Event took place at Ognisko Polskie. Marzena Zoladz and Agata Smuzniak, who established Polish deConstruction, presented their work. Furthermore, there was a screening of a documentary film by Piotr Rozanski about Polish immigrants in the UK from the period before Poland joined the European Union. Much to our surprise, the meeting was a success with a large attendance and a very good atmosphere, and encourged us to organise meetings on a regular basis. PHOTO GALLERY |
